Portraits

This week  I used photos I had taken of my nephew during the fall for senior photos

For this picture I brightened and adjusted the contrast and color. I also used the clone tool to cover the breaks of light at the top of the picture to make it less distracting.

On this picture I also adjusted the brightness contrast and color. The I used the clone tool to lighten around the eyes. I also used the smuge tool to get a smoother transition around the eyes.

Week 10 Text, Clone, Patch and Paint

I Boosted the colors in this photo and added text with my watermark.

This was the original photo of some damaged wood from the lumber yard.

I added the Text "Goods" used the paint brush to define "damaged" Did some dodge and burn around both words and then lowered the saturation to get a colorless photo.

For this photo I wanted to  put more of the focus on my grandchildren instead of the clutter on the wall, so I used the cloning tool to blend the wall and get rid of the  clutter.

PhotoStory

I took some shots of some home grown flowers and made them into a bouquet for my photo story. I still need to narrow down my selection, and these are without editing. Let me know what you think.

I would like to select one out of these three to start my photo story

Dodge, Burn and Filters

Original

Filter: Ripple, Whirl and Pinch also color hue changes

Before

Filters: I used the Comic then Canvas filter on this photo to give it a painting feel, I then adjusted the brightness and contrast for more depth.

Before Burn and Dodge I used the dodge feature to lighten the darker side of her face, I also used it along the top of the cheek bones to create a highlighted effect. I used the Burn effect on the bottom of the cheek with a rose color. I then used the burn tool with black to darken the background and draw more attention to my subject I used the paint brush to darken the bottom lip, and the smudge tool to remove the moles from her chin.

Color

I used GIMP to Edit my photos, I inverted the one with the flower to get a different effect, I also used color saturation and brightness to change the appearance of colors in my photos.

Week 7 Tools

I used the GIMP program for editing.  I found it a bit complicating for editing because I have never used this program before. I blended two photos of flower together by using the smudge tool, and the round and rectangle select tool. I position the photos so that one flower would lay nicely over the other.

Rule of Thirds

Using the rule of thirds I took some photos of a water can next to a peony.

Photo # 1                                                                                Photo # 2

Image #1 has the water can off center, the photo's composition looks much better. Photo #2 has the water can centered, the photo is not as appealing.
